Boathouse and Business Space
The Boathouse is a shining example of the aspiration to diversify the Wisbech and Fenland economies by attracting more knowledge-based businesses to an area that has room for companies to expand.
The land-mark three-storey Boathouse building overlooking the river will provide a high quality office environment for 31 knowledge-based businesses, with units ranging in size from 16 sq metres to 135 sq metres. These will be let on flexible terms to make them attractive to businesses. On the ground floor, there will be provision for a café with the main entrance opening onto the new Harbour Square.
The land-mark £3.5million three-storey Boathouse building overlooking the river will provide a high quality office environment for 31 knowledge-based businesses, with units ranging in size from 16 sq metres to 135 sq metres. These will be let on flexible terms to make them attractive to businesses. On the ground floor, there will be provision for a café with the main entrance opening onto the new Harbour Square.
In addition, the state-of-the-art business centre will offer conference and training facilities as well as shared reception and rest area facilities, a restaurant, club room and a bar.
There will be a car park with 88 parking spaces and a bicycle storage area.
The building will be a sister facility to the already successful South Fens Business Centre in Chatteris, operated by Fenland District Council.
The development will breathe new life into the site that has
lain derelict at the heart of the town for more than 20 years.
Boosting the economic fortunes of this previously redundant
area of Wisbech, will also help link both sides of the river,
improving the prospects of residents living in the Waterlees
area of the town, which has been something of a
backwater for many years.
