Within the development there has been extensive traffic calming measures and Nene Parade has become an attractive, pedestrian-priority, tree-lined, waterfront boardwalk with seating.

The development has ensured that access to the town centre
from the Waterlees are of the town has been greatly enhanced
with much improved cycling and pedestrian links.

Traffic that traditionally used Nene Parade as access to the port area, has now been redirected to the port via Mount Pleasant Road.

The Mount Pleasant route and port access have been the subject of improvements, including new lighting and off-street parking provision. Key junctions around the redevelopment sites will be improved, with traffic lights and pelican crossings as part of the infrastructure development works planned for 2009.
